When I have all of the ingredients, I enjoy making fresh salsa. But sometimes ‘people’ forget things… really important things, like tomatoes (Angry face!). A few days ago my girlfriend even picked up the wrong tomato sauce. Luckily I remembered about the can of sauce she bought and it hit me that I could use it to make a quick salsa… and trust me, it’s good!
The other day, I needed a large can of diced tomatoes, but all I had was this Great Value petite diced tomatoes with garlic and olive oil. If you have ever read my salsa recipe this will pretty much be the same deal, just that the tomatoes, garlic and olive oil are already in one can!
So for this you will need:
- One can of petite diced tomatoes with garlic and onions
- 1/4 cup of Cilantro
- 1/2 cup of white onion
- 1/2 lime squeezed
- salt and pepper to taste
- jalapeno for heat or Sriracha sauce
Take a large bowl and empty the can of tomatoes, and add cilantro, white onions, salt and pepper to taste and mix together in the bowl.
For added heat you can mix in jalapenos. Apparently that was also ‘missing’ from our shopping list so we used some sriracha to waken up the brain!
And that’s it! This goes to show you that you can make anything from stuff in your cabinets even if you do not have all the ingredients.
